About Camp Finder

Camp Finder is an unofficial, community-built directory of the Scouts BSA resident summer camps that councils run across the country. There's no good way to find a camp you don't already know about, so we built one.

How it works

Search by location, program, and features, then follow any listing to the council's own page. Dates, fees, and availability change all the time, so we don't mirror them here; the council site is always the authority. We point you to the source. We're not trying to be it.

Where the data comes from

Camp and council records come from the Open Scout API, an open, versioned dataset of Scouting America reference data. Every listing shows when its facts were last checked, and anything older than a year gets flagged. Confirm the details on the council's page before you register.

Free and open source

Camp Finder is free to use, with no account and no ads. The code is open source under the MIT license, so anyone can read it, run it, or send a fix. It runs on open data from the Open Scout API and the Open Source Scouting design system, which are open too.

Suggest a correction

Our data is only as good as its sources. If you know a camp firsthand, because you run it, work it, or your unit has been there, you know it better than our scrapers do. Tell us what's off or missing and we'll fix it.

A real person reviews every suggestion before anything changes, so an update takes a little while: it lands in the Open Scout API first, then this site picks it up. Prefer to file it yourself? Open an issue or pull request there with the camp name, what's wrong, and a link that backs it up.

Privacy: sharing your contact is optional, and we use it only to follow up on your suggestion. Your correction and any source link you provide may be recorded in the open dataset's provenance (credited to you only if you ask). Please don't include personal information about youth.
